Chandigarh Capitol Complex Included in World Heritage Site List

The Architectural Work of Le Corbusier Chandigarh Capitol Complex has been Included in World Heritage Site list by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) on Sunday, 17 July 2016.

UNESCO has chosen 4 sites from the work of Le Corbusier the 17 sites comprising this transnational serial property are spread over seven countries and are a testimonial to the invention of a new architectural language that made a break with the past.

4 sites of the Architectural Work of Le Corbusier which has included in World Heritage are as follows.
• The Complexe du Capitole(Capitol Complex) in Chandigarh (India)
• The National Museum of Western Art, Tokyo (Japan)
• The House of Dr Curutchet in La Plata (Argentina)
• The Unité d’habitation in Marseille (France)

It’s a proud moment for Chandigarh residents today. Year’s efforts of Chandigarh Administration are successful as Capital Complex of Chandigarh is declared as a World Heritage Site in UNISCO.
